Collection: 25/4 hemstitch linen - 1960's 4-stranded linen thread
25/4 Hemstitch linen: this thread is 4-stranded which means you can separate it into 4 fine strands (40 meter) or use singly (10m)
In the 1960's when this thread was produced, it was common to mix one or three strands of this thread together with the regular linen embroidery thread in embroidery designs, it helped create interesting textures. Popular with bookbinders and embroiderers, this versatile thread has not been produced since the 1960's and cannot be found easily anymore.
We currently have over 80 colours of this rare vintage thread in stock.
For some shades, we have 3 skeins, for others over a hundred per colour.
There are two brands of this thread: Nordiska and Linblomman. Both yarns were dyed in the same factory and has the same colour coding: Nordiska starts with 5, and Linblomman with 8 or 9.
Our 1960s boxes are now all gone: we pack the linen threads in bundle wraps.
