We love finding interesting old embroidery threads, neutrals being quite a rare find in 60's embroidery linen hauls, but all the nicer when they do show up.
Here is our current finest vintage and contemporary linen thread collection, packed in a box with two linen samples from an old linen weaving factory (1934 to 1963)
and a panel of our favourite fabric, Fine Linen.
Fine Linen Treasure Box is a series of 4,
all contain the following rare and beautiful threads:
1 x long skein of Nordiska's fine linen thread, a very beautiful, strong and smooth linen thread used both for embroidery and lace making. (30m)
1960's Knox's of Kilbirnie linen thread (20m)
One spool of fine linen lace thread (1962)
2 x linen embroidery threads from late 1800's/early 1900's, two weights, one extra long.
3 x skeins of our contemporary linen threads;
fine linen (30m)
natural linen (30m) and a glowing #212 which reflects light beautifully. (14m each)
Swedish beautiful 60's linen threads in two weights,
the finer 30m and the heavier 14 m.
Both have been skeined up by and are held together with a modern label called Lyster.
A very rare Danish stranded linen, late 1800s/early 1900s
A Swedish very fine cotton embrodiery thread marked 1908 (40m)
An antique skein of cotton from the same collection as 1908. This skein vary slightly in each box.
One Fine Linen panel, 50x50cm
Two archive examples of linen towels (Damast) with the notes "may not be sold" and the year they were made. These were found in a charity shop and had been donated by a museum. Most have some marks of age, and some labels have fallen off leaving the paper glue. Wash gently with soap and it can be used for generations or used in artworks, crafts etc.
In the sturdy A6 paper box you will also find chenille needles in three sizes,
a notecard with envelope.
